Junior Veikka Viskari recorded his third-straight top-15 finish to start the season, placing 11th at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational at Arkansas as the Mizzou men's golf team placed sixth overall as a team.
Viskari finished 11th as an individual at +6 (76-72-74), carding a two-over 74 on the final day of the tournament. His 11th-place finish follows seventh and 11th placements to start the season as he led the Tigers in all three tournaments this season. On Wednesday, he tallied three birdies on the back nine to finish with eight over the three days.
"A golf course like Blessings requires all areas of your game to be sharp and quickly exposes those that aren't," Viskari said. "The team showed some grit this week and it was great to see the guys hang in there and grind when things weren't going our way. I've had a solid start to the season but look forward to capitalizing on more opportunities in the last two events of the fall."
Overall, the Tigers placed sixth in the 10-team field with a three-day total of +43 (306-295-306).
"The Blessings is a great test and a true championship setup," said Mizzou men's golf head coach Glen Millican. "It definitely challenged us but our guys played hard. They showed great composure and competitiveness under difficult conditions."
Senior Virgilio Paz finished second on the team and 22nd overall over the three days at +10 (74-73-79), matching Viskari with eight birdies over the 54 holes. Freshman Trent Mierl placed 33rd overall at +15 (81-75-75), followed by Bradley Mulder (77-78-78) and Reese Roberts (79-75-79) in 36th at +16.
The Tigers return to action on Monday, October 13, competing at the Moraine Intercollegiate in Dayton, Ohio.
