The Mizzou men's golf team wrapped up play at The Clerico in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Tuesday, finishing its fall season with a 12th-place finish.
Facing tough conditions on the final day, the Tigers had their best day of the tournament with the ninth-best score, including ahead of two teams ranked in the top 50 nationally.
"The last event of the fall was a tough finish for us, competing on a championship golf course in testing conditions," said Mizzou head coach Glen Millican. "Overall, we had a good season this fall. It stings a little with the ending but in all reality, it was one bad tournament to go with four pretty good results. We did a nice job of showing improvement throughout the fall and have some positive momentum going into the offseason. We know some of the areas we need to work on to reach another level in the spring."
Sophomore Trent Mierl led Mizzou with a three-day score of 223 (+13). It marks the second-straight tournament that Mierl led the Tigers in scoring and the fifth time in 16 events during his young career as he placed 31st overall at the tournament.
Junior Bradley Mulder led the Tigers on the final day with a score of 74. He carded four birdies over the final 18 holes and led Mizzou with eight during the tournament as he finished with a final tally of 228 (77-77-74).
Veikka Viskari (79-73-76–228), Reese Roberts (74-75-82–231) and Virgilio Paz (72-79-84–235) rounded out the scoring for Mizzou during the tournament.
Auburn – the top-ranked team in the nation in the latest coaches poll – won the tournament by six strokes over Oklahoma State, finishing with a tally of +11 on the final day.
Competing in their final tournament of the fall season, the Tigers return to action on Thursday, Feb. 12, competing at the John Burns Intercollegiate in Hawaii.
