The Mizzou men's basketball added a premier shooter with the signing of Aidan Chronister (Rogers, Ark.) on Wednesday, becoming the second member of the nation's No. 1 signing class.
A 6-foot-7 wing from Rogers, Arkansas, Chronister spent the 2024-25 season with Sunrise Christian in Bel Aire, Kansas. As a junior, he ranked among the best in EYBL Scholastic – placing third with 2.5 triples per game and seventh with a 3-point clip of 36.8 percent.
"We're thrilled to welcome Aidan to our Mizzou family as he was a priority for us early in our tenure here," said Whitten Family Men's Basketball Head Coach Dennis Gates. "He is a seamless fit in our system as he has great size and length and plays the game the right way. He spreads the court with his elite shooting ability, cuts and moves really well and is a great decision maker and passer. We look forward to Aidan joining our program and helping us contend for titles at Mizzou."
A consensus four-star recruit who ranks among the nation's top 100 players, Chronister is the No. 71 prospect by 247Sports and No. 83 player in the ESPN 100.
Chronister averaged 9.6 points per game overall with Sunrise Christian, leading the team with 32 triples in 13 games. He also shot 94.4 percent from the free-throw line, while adding 2.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.
Now playing at The New School in his native Arkansas, Chronister also played 13 games with AAO Flight on the Puma Pro16 circuit, averaging 11.6 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game, while shooting 42.6 percent from the field and 36.4 percent from 3-point range. He started his high school career at Rogers High School, playing two seasons for former Mizzou standout Lamont Frazier '94.
"Aidan is a high-IQ basketball player with a foundation constructed around playing the game the 'right' way," said The New School Head Coach DeShaun Star. "If there is an open man, he's passing the ball, even when he could easily get his own shot. This IQ is built on a learner's mentality as he continues to be a sponge soaking up any knowledge he can. A player who desires to be coached and pushed towards greatness — with a work ethic that is necessary to be great.
"Off the floor, he's still a young man in pursuit of his dreams, impressionable, but firm in knowing who he wants to be," Stark continued. "Never being too big time for those around him but also knowing he is wired differently than most kids his age and that's a necessity if he wants to achieve his goals. He's great around the younger generation as he is an idol of sorts to many (especially in Northwest Arkansas), respectful around adults, still values being great in the classroom and never really has bad energy days on or off the floor."
Chronister is Mizzou's second signee for the Class of 2026 – joining the nation's No. 14 prospect in Toni Byrant, who signed earlier on Wednesday. The Tigers currently own the nation's top-ranked recruiting class by ESPN and Chronister joins a program that has won 20-plus games and advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2-of-3 seasons under Gates' leadership.
