
Tigers Claim Nine WCGA All-American Recognitions

Mizzou places three First Team and six Second Team All-Americans ahead of the NCAA Championship Final.
COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri gymnastics earned nine Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) All-American recognitions, including three on the first team, the WCGA announced on Friday.
Elise Tisler (Fairfax Station, Va.) was named a WCGA Vault First Team member, Mara Titarsolej (Zutphen, Netherlands) on First Team Uneven Bars and national champion Helen Hu (Chicago, Ill.) was named to the Balance Beam First Team. On the Second Team, Amari Celestine (Wildomar, Calif.) earned the nod for All-Around, Jocelyn Moore (Hillsborough, N.J.) received a spot on Vault, Hannah Horton (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) on Uneven Bars, Olivia Kelly (Bronx, N.Y.) did so on Uneven Bars and Balance Beam and Addison Lawrence (Olathe, Kan.) was honored on Balance Beam.
The honors come one day after the nine student-athletes helped the Tigers advance to the NCAA Championship Final for the first time in program history. Mizzou now turns its attention to the title meet, which is slated for 3 p.m. Saturday on ABC.
The First Team All-Americans are awarded to the top four finishers, plus ties, from each of the two preliminary sessions at the NCAA Championship for all four events plus the all-around. Second Team All-American are given to the fifth through eighth place finishers, plus ties, from each of the semifinal meets for all four events plus the all-around.
The NCAA Championship Semifinal came down to the final routine, where Missouri trailed by a quarter tenth to Florida when Hu stepped to the balance beam and scored a 9.9875, surpassing the Gators by a 197.3000-197.2000 final. She earned the NCAA Gymnastics Balance Beam National Championship with her performance, the first gymnast to receive an individual title in program history.
Three gymnasts reached the 9.9000 threshold, headlined by Hu's clinching routine. Titarsolej anchored the team's rotation on uneven bars, earning 9.9375, which tied the meet-best score on the apparatus. Going fourth on the balance beam, Lawrence notched a score of 9.9125 to keep the team in contention.
Tisler's 9.8750 on vault marked the team's best score of the rotation and tied her season best. Moore also earned a spot on the vault All-America team after earning 9.8625. Horton and Kelly each posted scores of 9.8875, going second and fourth, respectively, to earn their spots as Second Team Vault All-Americans.
Celestine's all-around score of 39.325 helped earn Mizzou's spot in its first NCAA Championship Final in program history. The senior earned marks of 9.8125 on vault, 9.8750 on bars, 9.8125 on beam and 9.8250 on floor.
Mizzou advanced to the NCAA Championship Final at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, where it faces No. 2 Oklahoma, No. 4 Utah and No. 5 UCLA. The national title meet is on Saturday, April 19 at 3 p.m. and will be televised on ABC.
