
Women's Golf in Second After Day One in Arizona

Mizzou women's golf opened play in the Westbrook Invitational Sunday, finishing day one in second place, just two shots out of the lead with one round to play.
Senior Jade Zamora leads the Tigers through 36 holes, carding a three-under 69 in both rounds to finish in a tie for sixth individually at six-under. She found 10 birdies on the day, avoiding any bogeys on the back nine in either round.
Freshman Ebba Liljeberg closed the day just one shot behind, at five-under in ninth place. Fellow freshman Addie Surber also had a strong showing, recording a three-under 69 in the first round, the second-best round of her young career.
Junior Fleur van Beek opened the tournament with a team-leading 67 in the first round behind six birdies, finishing the day at four-under in 13th. Senior Melanie Walker led the team in the second round, finding her stride with two front-nine eagles to close at two-under on the day.
Overall, five Tigers closed the first day inside the top-25 in the field of 84 players. At -20, MU finished day one ahead of No. 26 Kansas State and No. 37 Kansas, sitting just two shots behind No. 23 Arizona.
Missouri will be back in action at 9:30 a.m. CT on Monday for round three in Arizona.
