COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou women's golf freshman Ebba Liljberg has been named the Southeastern Conference Golfer of the Week, as announced by the league office on Wednesday.
This accolade follows a standout performance for Liljeberg at the Westbrook Invitational as she headlined the Tigers and finished third with at 12-under 204. The freshman carded a 7-under 65 in the final round of the tournament to rise up the leaderboard.
The result marked the fourth top-five finish of the year for the freshman.
Liljberg's effort gave Mizzou its third team title of the year, the most since the program claimed a trio of victories during the 2004-05 season. As a team, the Tigers' finished at 37-under (827), which marked their third lowest stroke total in program history.
The play continued Liljeberg's record-setting season as she finished the fall campaign 1.36 strokes better than any freshman in program-history at 71.64.
In the Sam Golden Invitational on Sept. 8, the freshman broke both the single-round and 54-hole records as she carded a 61 in the second round and a 197 across the event. Liljeberg's round two performance was the lowest round in relative-to-par in NCAA history at 11-under.
This is the freshman's second weekly accolade given out by the conference after getting named SEC Freshman of the Week this past fall.
