
Mark Mitchell Earns All-SEC Honors

One of the most versatile and productive players in the country, Mark Mitchell was honored with All-SEC honors on Monday, earning selection to the league's second team.
On target to be just the second player in school history to lead the team in points, rebounds and assists in a single campaign, Mitchell has tallied 17.9 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists as a senior. One of just five players in the nation to have totaled 550 points, 160 rebounds and 110 assists this season, Mitchell is also aiming to be the first Tiger to average 17 points, five boards and three assists in a single season since 1992 Big Eight Player of the Year Anthony Peeler.
Mitchell currently ranks eighth in the SEC with his 17.9 points per game – the most by a Tiger in 12 years – third in the league with a field goal percentage of 54.7 and 10th with his 3.6 assists per game. In fact, his 113 total assists are the sixth most by a player nationally 6-9 or taller.
The All-SEC honors are the second for Mitchell in his standout career as he was named to the third team following his junior campaign. He joins Kobe Brown as the only two Tigers to earn multiple All-SEC honors during Mizzou's 14 years in the league.
A team captain with the Tigers, Mitchell has totaled 1,713 points during his four-year collegiate career to go with 670 rebounds and 255 assists. This past weekend, he also became the 49th player in school history to surpass 1,000 points as a Tiger and just the eighth to do it in two seasons.
Mitchell and the Tigers return to the court on Thursday, opening postseason play in the second round of the SEC Tournament. Mizzou is set to face either Kentucky or LSU with an 11 a.m. tipoff on SEC Network.
