Softball Falls in Rubber Match Against No. 16/14 Georgia

The Tigers were shutout in the series finale, as they fell back to 22-22 overall and 6-9 in SEC play.
ATHENS, Ga. - Mizzou softball (22-22, 6-9 SEC) dropped the rubber match against No. 16/14 Georgia (31-11, 9-6 SEC) 4-0 on Sunday, April 12, at Jack Turner Softball Stadium.
Senior Cierra Harrison picked up the loss in this one, as she is now 9-7 this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bulldogs took the lead in the ball game with a lead off double in the second that eventually led to a run on a single up the middle. Harrison limited the damage in that inning as she stranded runners on second and third with a strikeout.
Harrison's day ended in the third inning, as runners were on second and third with one out. Junior Marissa McCann took her place in the circle, as UGA earned one more on a sacrifice fly, as it led 2-0 after three.
Georgia extended the lead to three in the bottom of the fourth with a solo home run and followed that with another solo home run in the fifth. That marked the fourth-straight inning that the Bulldogs scored one run.
Freshman Abby Carr made her appearance on the mound in the bottom of the sixth and snapped the scoring run for the Bulldogs. However, the Tigers would go down in order to end the game 4-0.
GAME NOTES
- Larissa Anderson moves to 394-240-1 all-time and 8-11 against the Bulldogs.
- The Tigers are 14-19 all-time against Georgia, and 5-10 in Athens, Ga.
- Mizzou is 6-11 against top-25 teams this season.
- Freshman Addy Waits recorded a double in this one - her seventh of the season.
