Senior Jade Zamora led the Mizzou women's golf team during the second round of the SEC Championship as the senior and the Tigers both had record-setting days on Saturday.
Zamora carded a three-under 67 during the second 18 – the best score by a Tiger at the championship in school history. Zamora recorded a clean scorecard on the day – finishing with zero bogeys to go with birdies on five, seven and 13. Her score of 67 tops Mizzou's previous standard at the SEC Championship of 68, set by Jessica Yuen in 2017 and matched by Melanie Walker last season and Ebba Liljeberg in round one this year.
Overall, Zamora moved up 31 spots on the leaderboard as she is now in 35th place with a two-day total of +2 (75-67).
As a team, the Tigers posted a score of 279, the lowest-ever score for Mizzou at the SEC Championship. MU topped its previous record of 284, set in the third round last year, as the Tigers are in 12th place overall at +7 – ahead of two teams that are above MU in the national rankings in No. 31 Kentucky (+17) and No. 32 LSU (+18).
Liljeberg continues to lead Mizzou after 36 holes at even par, adding a second-round 72 after playing her opening 18 holes at two-under as she is now in 23rd place overall. Walker joins Zamora at +3 after a second-round 70 with Addie Dobson also firing a 70 during Saturday's action.
The Tigers are set to tee off the final round of stroke play on Sunday morning at 8:40 a.m. CT, aiming to continue its climb toward the top eight and match play qualification.
