McKinney joins Mizzou's staff after a season at SMU and five at Bellarmine.
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou soccer has hired Callie McKinney as an assistant coach, head coach Stefanie Golan announced on Wednesday.
McKinney joins the Tigers after spending the 2025 season as an assistant coach at SMU.
"We are thrilled to welcome Callie to Mizzou Soccer," Golan said. "I have known Callie for several years, and she has consistently been someone I hoped to bring onto our staff when the right opportunity presented itself. With Kelsey Wys adding the goalkeepers back to her responsibilities as associate head coach, this became the perfect time to add someone with Callie's character, experience and passion for developing student-athletes. She brings tremendous energy, strong soccer knowledge, a relentless work ethic and an ability to build meaningful relationships with our players. Most importantly, Callie aligns with the vision and standards we are continuing to build at Mizzou."
During her lone season at SMU, McKinney helped guide the Mustangs through their second season in the ACC. SMU finished the year with an 8-8-2 overall record, including a 6-3-1 mark at home, while recording six shutouts and 13 different goal scorers. The Mustangs also faced one of the nation's toughest schedules, taking on five ranked opponents, including four top-10 teams and eight NCAA Tournament qualifiers during the regular season.
Prior to her time at SMU, McKinney spent five seasons at Bellarmine from 2020-24, including serving as the program's head coach during the 2024 season.
In her first year leading the Knights, McKinney guided Bellarmine to its first ASUN Tournament berth in three years and advanced the program to the conference quarterfinals following a first-round penalty shootout victory over Austin Peay. Bellarmine also set new Division I-era program records for total wins and ASUN victories while earning its first ASUN postseason superlative honor and a program-record three All-ASUN selections.
Before being promoted to head coach in March 2024, McKinney joined the Bellarmine staff as a graduate assistant in 2020 and was elevated to full-time assistant coach prior to the 2021 season.
During her tenure with the Knights, McKinney helped develop multiple all-conference performers. In 2023, Emma Nicholson earned Second Team All-ASUN honors while Sydni Whitehead was named to the ASUN All-Freshman Team. In 2022, Bellarmine ranked second in the ASUN in goals-against average (0.88) and tied for third in shutouts with eight. Goalkeeper Elyssa Francis garnered All-ASUN recognition, while Alexa Orozco earned ASUN All-Freshman Team honors.
McKinney also helped Bellarmine reach the ASUN Tournament semifinals for the first time in program history during the 2021 season, the program's first year competing at the Division I level.
In addition to her collegiate coaching experience, McKinney served as the head coach of the Racing Louisville W League team during the summer of 2023.
A native of Franklin, Tenn., McKinney played collegiately at Louisville from 2016-19. She appeared in 72 matches with 67 starts during her career and helped the Cardinals earn NCAA Tournament appearances in each of her final two seasons. As a senior in 2019, she scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Clemson while helping Louisville post a 13-5-2 record.
McKinney was a two-time ACC Academic Honor Roll selection and earned Southeast All-Conference Team honors while competing for the Nashville Rhythm of the Women's Premier Soccer League in 2019.
She earned her bachelor's degree in exercise science from Louisville and her master's degree in health science from Bellarmine.
