COLUMBIA, Mo.- The Missouri men's swimming and diving team remain in sixth place at the 1999 Big 12 Championships in Austin, Tex. in a meet that is proving to be very fast. The Tigers posted some very fast times on Friday and find themselves with 227 points heading into Saturday. The Tigers scored 326 points in 1998.
The Tigers placed five athletes in the finals on Friday compared to just two on Thursday night. Sophomore Mike Tucker, who will look to repeat as an NCAA qualifier on Saturday in the 200 breaststroke, placed fifth in the 100 breast on Friday with a new school record time of 55.23 seconds. That time is also an NCAA consideration cut time. Senior Ryan Ruddy also reached the finals in the 100 breaststroke and placed eighth with a time of 56.36 seconds. Sophomore Aaron Lo posted a time of 55.90 in the consolation race, also an NCAA consideration cut time.

Missouri's divers stepped up big on Friday on the three-meter board. Both Brad Duggan and Ryan Day both reached the finals and placed seventh and eighth respectively. That marked the first time Mizzou has had two divers reach the finals in one event under diving coach Pat McCord.
