Bogner ends his career as the head diving coach with the Tigers after serving in the role for seven years.
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Head Diving coach Kyle Bogner is set to retire from coaching at the end of the semester, head coach Andrew Grevers and the Mizzou swimming and diving programs announced on Friday, May 1.
Bogner served as the diving coach for the past seven years and helped coach the Tigers' first-ever NCAA diving champion – Collier Dyer – in his final season at the helm.
"What Kyle has meant to this program goes far beyond technical coaching; he has been a mentor and a steady hand for dozens of student-athletes. This season was a perfect reflection of his impact," Grevers said. "The growth we saw in Collier, jumping from 44th place a year ago to an NCAA Champion this March, is a direct result of the emotional and mental preparation Kyle instills in his athletes. Kyle is leaving Mizzou at the absolute top of his game, and we are forever grateful for the legacy of excellence he leaves behind."
Overall, during his time with the Tigers, Bogner helped coach eight divers to All-American status and qualified at least four divers to the NCAA Championships every season. Prior to joining Mizzou, Bogner served as the head diving coach at Wyoming for four seasons (2014-18) and was at New Mexico State (2012-14) to start his coaching career.
Now the veteran head coach turns his attention to a different venture, as he and his family move back up north to Montana.
"Through much prayerful consideration, I have decided to retire from coaching at the end of the semester. My family and I have been presented with an incredible opportunity that fulfills lifelong dreams for all of us," Bogner said. "We will be moving to the mountains of Montana to serve as Directors of Mountain Gateway's Wilderness Intensives program, a Christian non-profit using the backcountry to train and send missionaries all over the world."
"I am deeply grateful to Coach Grevers for giving me the opportunity to become part of the Mizzou Swim and Dive family seven seasons ago," Bogner said. "His support of diving has been unwavering, and it has been a major factor in the success we've experienced."
