ZOU NOTES
• Mizzou is off to a 5-0 start for the third time in six years under head coach Robin Pingeton. The Tigers are coming off of victories at Mizzou Arena on Sunday vs. Wake Forest and Tuesday vs. SIU Edwardsville.
• Sophie Cunningham (Columbia, Mo.) was named SEC Freshman of the Week for the second consecutive week on Tuesday. In just her fourth career game on Sunday vs. Wake Forest, Cunningham set a new school record with 42 points, which is the highest single-game total in NCAA Division I this season.
• Cunningham broke a nearly 30-year-old record of 41 points that was established by Renee Kelly on Jan. 25, 1986 vs. Oklahoma.
• For the week, Cunningham averaged 26.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.5 steals per game. Through five career games, Cunningham is averaging 19.2 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.2 steals per contest.
• In a span of five quarters (2nd, 4th vs. Wake, 2nd vs. SIUE) between the Wake Forest & SIU Edwardsville game, Cunningham (twice) and Morgan Stock (Town & Country, Mo.) both scored 14 points in a quarter.
EARLY SEASON NOTABLES
• Mizzou head coach Robin Pingeton signed a new 5-year contract through the 2019-20 season that was announced on Oct. 2. She earned her 80th victory at Mizzou on Nov. 13 at Missouri State.
• The Tigers are now 40-1 in nonconference home games at Mizzou Arena under Pingeton.
• Junior forward Jordan Frericks (Quincy, Ill.) ranks fourth in Mizzou history with an average of 8.6 rebounds per game.
• Senior guard Maddie Stock (Town & Country, Mo.) moved into sole possession of seventh in program history on Nov. 16 with 114 baskets from long range. She drained a career-high 54 triples in 2014-15.
• Mizzou has played in a Thanksgiving tournament hosted by Saint Mary's once before, winning games against Alabama and Saint Mary's on Nov. 24 and Nov. 25, 2006.
ABOUT NORTHEASTERN...
• The Huskies are 3-0 after earning a home win over Maryland-Eastern Shore (11/19) and road victories at Boston University (11/13) and Siena (11/15) to begin the season.
• Samantha DeFreese leads offensively with 15.7 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. She averaged a team-leading 13.9 points, 7.0 rebounds and led the squad with 22 blocks a season ago.
• Last season, Northeastern was 4-25 overall, 1-17 in conference play, 1-14 on the road and 0-2 at neutral sites.
• The Huskies snapped a 14-game losing streak to close last season with a victory in the season opener at Boston University.
