ZOU NOTES
• Mizzou is off to an 8-0 start for the first time under Robin Pingeton and the second time in school history. The only other time a Mizzou team has started 8-0 was during the 1982-83 season.
• The Tigers defeated Southeast Missouri, 74-32, the last time out on Dec. 2. The 32 points allowed are the fewest since a 55-30 victory over UT Martin on Dec. 7, 2010.
• Junior forward Jordan Frericks (Quincy, Ill.) was named MVP of the Hilton Concord Thanksgiving Classic after averaging 17.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 2.0 steals during the wins over Northeastern and Saint Mary's.
• In just her fourth career game on Nov. 22 vs. Wake Forest, freshman guard Sophie Cunningham (Columbia, Mo.) set a new school record with 42 points, which ties for the highest single-game total in NCAA Division I this season. Cunningham broke a nearly 30-year-old record of 41 points that was established by Renee Kelly on Jan. 25, 1986 vs. Oklahoma at the Hearnes Center.
EARLY SEASON NOTABLES
• Mizzou head coach Robin Pingeton signed a new 5-year contract through the 2019-20 season that was announced on Oct. 2. She earned her 85th victory at Mizzou on Nov. 27 vs. Northeastern.
• The Tigers rank 11th nationally in free throw shooting percentage (77.2), 12th in rebounding margin (+13.4), 13th in scoring margin (+25.2) and 19th in scoring defense (52.4 points allowed per game).
• Mizzou won the Hilton Concord Thanksgiving Classic hosted by Saint Mary's with two victories on Nov. 27-28 in Moraga, California.
• Monday's contest will mark the first in the series against Loyola Marymount.
• Mizzou is 8-1 all-time against the West Coast Conference, including a 95-78 victory over Saint Mary's on Nov. 28 during the Hilton Concord Thanksgiving Classic in northern California. The Tigers drained a season-high 14 shots from beyond the 3-point arc and had a season-best 28 assists in that contest.
ABOUT LOYOLA MARYMOUNT...
• The Lions are 3-5 and have won three of their last five contests.
• Head coach Charity Elliott is 32-68 in her fourth year at LMU. She is a 1992 graduate of Missouri State.
• Loyola Marymount was picked to finish eighth in the 10-team West Coast Conference in the WCC Preseason Coaches Poll, receiving 25 votes.
• Senior forward Sophie Taylor (Lafayette, Calif.) was named to the West Coast Conference Preseason All-Conference Team.
