Santos Upsets Dikosavljevic in @MizzouTennis’ Loss to Auburn

Santos earned her second win over a ranked opponent, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3, over No. 21 Dikosavljevic
COLUMBIA, Mo. – The largest recorded crowd in program history, 241 fans, saw No. 61 Mizzou Tennis (12-5, 0-4 SEC) give a spirited effort inside Mizzou Tennis Complex, but the Tigers fell, 5-2, to No. 15 Auburn (16-3, 4-1 SEC). In singles play, junior No. 98 Bea Machado Santos (Lisbon, Portugal) upset Auburn's No. 21 Andie Dikosavljevic in straight sets, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3.
The win is Santos' second win over a ranked opponent this season, after defeating the reigning SEC player of the year Brooke Austin (Florida) on March 5. Sophomore Clare Raley (Atlanta, Ga.) earned victories in both her singles and doubles.
Doubles play was a back and forth affair. Auburn took the match at the No.1 position, while the team of Raley and senior Kelli Hine (New Braunfels, Texas) took down Auburn's Andie Dikosavljevic and Paula de Man to secure the first victory of the day at the No. 2 position. Auburn took the match at the No. 3 position in a nail bitter finish, 7-5, giving Auburn the doubles point.
Santos got the record sized crowd on their feet in game one of her match against Dikosavljevic, coming back from down four games to three to get the all-important opening set win, 7-6 (7-5). Santos clinch the match with a 6-3 win in set 2. Raley finished off singles competition with a resounding 6-2, 6-2 victory over Auburn's Caroline Turner, providing Mizzou with its second point of the day.
Mizzou Tennis will take to the court again on Sunday, March 20 against No. 43 Alabama at the Mizzou Tennis Complex. The match is set to begin at 10 a.m. C.T. and will be streamed on the Mizzou Network.
