Tigers head to Eatonton, Ga., for a three-day tournament, Sunday-Tuesday
COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou Men's Golf will square off against top programs from around the country when it tees off at the Linger Longer Invitational in Eatonton, Georgia, from March 20-22. Hosted by Kennesaw State and Mercer, head coach Mark Leroux's Tigers will take to the Great Waters Course at Reynolds Lake Oconee.
The Tigers and host schools are joined in the event by No. 3 Georgia, No. 7 Alabama, No. 22 Virginia, No. 25 Purdue, No. 29 Baylor, No. 47 Augusta, Charlotte, Louisville, South Alabama and UNC-Greensboro.
Coming off a Top 5 individual performance at the Bandon Dunes Championship (March 6-8), junior Linus Lilliedahl (Sandviken, Sweden) leads the Tigers' lineup to Eatonton. Lilliedahl's 73.9 stroke average ranks third-best on the squad.
Next in Mizzou's lineup will be junior Euan Walker (Troon, Scotland), who has twice led his fellow Tigers with top squad finishes at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate (Oct. 9-11) and the Kiawah Classic (Nov. 1-2). Walker has compiled a 73.6 stroke average, second-best for the Tigers.
Mizzou's overall leader in stroke average (72.5), sophomore Hayden Buckley (Belden, Miss.), takes the third position in the Tigers' lineup. Buckley makes up half of Mizzou's best individual finish of the season, when he and freshman Preston Fleenor (Kansas City, Mo.) tied for second at the Turning Stone Intercollegiate (Aug. 31-Sept. 1).
Freshman Matt Echelmeier (Columbia, Mo.) played well in recent action for Mizzou, continuing his role in the lineup after tying for 25th at the Bandon Dunes event. He is joined in the lineup by fellow freshman, Fleenor, for the first time since the Jackrabbit Invitational (Sept. 26-28).
