KEY PERFORMERS
Brady was the story of prelims after she dropped a school record 1:55.55 in the 200 IM. The mark broke Shara Stafford's old mark of 1:56.30 set in 2012 and bested Brady's previous best of 1:56.69. Brady now holds three Tiger records, the 200 fly (1:54.60), 200 IM (1:55.55) and 400 IM (4:05.22).
After a solid prelims, Zubar broke her own 500 free school mark in Thursday evening finals to earn the event win. She clocked a time of 4:38.80, breaking her old record of 4:39.68 set at the 2017 NCAA Championships.
In addition to Brady and Zubar's records, junior Annie Ochitwa (Highlands Ranch, Colorado) nabbed two individual event wins and swam on two winning relays. Ochitwa claimed top honors in both the 100 fly (52.46) and 50 free (22.43), as well as swimming on Mizzou's first-place 200 free and 400 medley relay teams. Her morning prelims times moved her into third-place in the Mizzou record books in both events.
QUOTABLES
Mizzou Head Coach Greg Rhodenbaugh
"I thought tonight went very well. We have 50-something people swimming and 10 divers diving and I thought most of the team did great. We have a few people struggling but we have to get them on the bus. But we did some really good stuff out there today."
Senior Sharli Brady
"I was hoping to come in and have a good swim to get ready for tomorrow. When I turned around and saw 1:55 I was definitely excited. It was also nice to see everyone who I train with every day have success this morning."
