
No. 14/13 @MizzouSwimDive Set For 2017 SEC Championships

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The No. 14/13 Mizzou men's and women's swimming and diving teams head to Knoxville, Tennessee, this week for the 2017 Southeastern Conference Swimming and Diving Championships. The five-day meet runs Tuesday, Feb. 14 - Saturday, Feb. 18 at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center at the University of Tennessee.
- Missouri enters SECs ranked 13th nationally in the women's CSCAA poll and 14th in the men's poll
- Last season as host, both Tiger programs finished fifth at the Championships, as the men finished with 902 points and the women with 764 points
- The women's finish was a program-best and the men's finish tied the program's top finish as part of the SEC
- Current senior Katharine Ross is the defending SEC Champion in the women's 100 breast. Ross claimed Mizzou's first-ever SEC swimming title in the event a year ago
- Two Tigers enter the Championships with nation-leading times in their respective events: seniors Andrew Sansoucie and senior Fabian Schwingenschlogl. Sansoucie is tied with Florida's Caeleb Dressel with the top 100 fly time (44.86), while 2016 NCAA Champion Schwingenschlogl leads the way in the 100 breast (51.07)
- Three Tiger men and one Tiger woman combine to own five NCAA A cuts in 2016-17: junior Hannah Stevens (100 back and 200 back), senior Michael Chadwick (100 free), Sansoucie (100 fly) and Schwingenschlogl (100 breast)
- Additionally, five Missouri relays earned A cuts throughout the season (men's 400 free relay, 200 medley relay and 400 medley relay and women's 200 and 400 medley relays)
- The Tigers set a combined 11 school records during the 2016-17 regular season, with six set by the men's team and five by the women's
- Head Coach Greg Rhodenbaugh is in his seventh season at the helm of the Tigers. Under his direction, the men have posted their top five NCAA finishes in program history, while the women have their top four
- Eight women's and seven men's SEC programs enter the Championships ranked in the top 25 of the latest polls. On the men's side, Georgia leads the way at fifth, followed by Florida (sixth), Auburn (seventh), Alabama (10th), Mizzou (14th), Tennessee (16th) and Texas A&M (25th). For the women, Georgia enters at fourth, while Texas A&M is ninth, Auburn 11th, Mizzou and Tennessee are tied at 13th, Kentucky is 16th, Florida 19th and LSU 24th
