COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Mizzou men's and women's swimming and diving teams combined to win nine events but suffered a pair of road losses to Texas A&M Saturday afternoon in at the Rec Center Natatorium in College Station, Texas.
The No. 15 Tiger men suffered a 169-131 loss to the No. 9 Aggies, while the No. 10 Mizzou women fell to No. 1 Texas A&M, 169-118. The Missouri men fell to 4-2 in dual meets on the year, while the women fell to 2-4.
KEY PERFORMERS
Three Tigers, senior Kendra Kieser (Plano, Texas) and sophomores Giovanny Lima (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Micah Slaton (Austin, Texas) all earned two event wins to lead the Tigers.
Kieser, fresh off the three-day Tennessee Diving Invitational, swept the women's springboards against the Aggies. She posted 304.88 points to claim the 3-meter title, and followed that up with a win on 3-meter after a score of 283.51.
Slaton proved unbeatable in the butterfly on Saturday, claiming wins in both the 100 fly (48.32) and 200 fly (1:47.44). Both his times were significantly faster than he swam against SMU yesterday.
Also a double-winner was Lima, who earned his team-leading eighth and ninth wins of the season. The sophomore took home top honors in both the 200 free (1:37.01) and 500 free (4:28.16).
QUOTABLES
Mizzou Head Coach Greg Rhodenbaugh
"We had a lot of really good swims today. The Aggie women are the top-ranked dual team in the country, and they proved that today. We couldn't really get any traction going. We did win both women's diving events today, so that was a huge plus. On the guys' side, we raced to the last two events. We had a chance to win until the last individual event of the day. But our guys swam really tough today."
