Mizzou Travels To Springfield for Matchup Against Missouri State

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Mizzou men's and women's swimming and diving teams travel to Springfield, Mo., to take on Missouri State on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 1 p.m. CT at the Hammons Student Center Pool. Live results for the meet will be available on Meet Mobile (2019 Mo State vs. Mizzou).
MIZZOU IN THE RANKINGS
The Tiger men currently rank No. 4 nationally in the CSCAA TYR Top 25 poll, while the women check in at No. 9. The men's team, which were No. 13 in the first poll, vaulted up the rankings thanks to a 190.5-109.5 win over then-No. 7 Florida on Oct. 18. The Tigers dispatched the reigning Southeastern Conference Champions after winning 12 events, including seniors Nick Alexander and Micah Slaton, who won two apiece.
The women stayed in the top 10 at No. 9 after a ranking of No. 6 in the first poll. In the dual against the Gators, the Tigers were led by junior Sarah Thompson, who swept the 50 and 100 free, as well as senior Haley Hynes, who clocked the third-fastest 50 back split in history as the leadoff leg of Mizzou's 200 medley relay.
TIGERS OWN FIVE NATION-LEADING TIMES
Mizzou stands atop the rankings in a number of events only two meets into the season. Individually, senior Nick Alexander owns the nation's top times in both the 200 back (1:43.25) and 200 IM (1:46.52), while classmate Micah Slaton has the county's fastest 200 fly (1:44.86) time as well.
The Tiger men and women also own the nation's top 200 medley relay swims. The women recorded an NCAA A cut with a 1:35.87, almost two seconds faster than the second-ranked team, while the men lead the country with a 1:26.59.
ALEXANDER NAMED SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Senior Nick Alexander was named the SEC Men's Swimmer of the Week on Oct. 22 after he won two events in nation-leading times in Mizzou's 190.5-109.5 win over No. 7 Florida on Oct. 18. The senior claimed top honors in both the 200 back and 200 IM, with times of 1:43.25 and 1:46.52, respectively, both of which are tops in the nation. Alexander also swam on Mizzou's winning 200 medley relay that notched a 1:26.59, a time that also ranks first nationally this season. He currently owns a team-best four individual event wins in 2019-20.

Mizzou will travel to Lexington, Ky., next week for a two-day meet against host Kentucky, North Carolina State and Arkansas (women only). Action gets underway with day one action on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 3 p.m. CT and will conclude on Friday, Nov. 8 at 9 a.m. CT.
