Amanda Kim Ties for Seventh to Mark Career-Best Finish
GREENSBORO, GA – The Mizzou women's golf team moved up one spot in the team standings on Sunday, and wrapped up its 2019 spring season opener with a sixth-place finish, thanks to a three-round team score of 913 (303-310-300) in the Lake Oconee Invitational, played at the Reynolds Lake Oconee National Course. Head Coach Stephanie Priesmeyer's squad knocked 10 strokes off its second round total with a team score of 300 in Sunday's final round of the 17-team, 54-hole tournament hosted by Mercer University.
Senior Amanda Kim (O'Fallon, Mo.) closed out a career-best finish with a final-round even-par 72 Sunday that left her tied for seventh place individually at 221 (72-77-72). That finish marked the third top-10 showing in her Tiger career, and is the best finish of her career, beating her previous best at the 2016 SEC Championship where she tied for ninth. Kim, who played from the No. 3 spot in Mizzou's lineup this weekend, was just two shots shy of her first collegiate top-five finish, and was eight shots off the medalist spot.
Fellow senior Cayce Hendrickson (Benton, Ky.) tied for 25th out of the No. 5 spot in the order, with a 54-hole total of 228 (74-79-75). It was the third top-25 finish of the 2018-19 season for Hendrickson, and the sixth of her career. Hendrickson led the Tigers with six birdies in the tournament.
Senior Emma Allen (Southampton, England) improved her score each round, and moved up 25 spots on the leaderboard Sunday with a three-over par final-round 75 to finish tied for 42nd (79-78-75=232). Allen, playing from the No. 1 spot in the lineup, turned in five birdies over the weekend.
Junior Jessica Yuen (Bolingbrook, Ill.) also moved up the leaderboard on Sunday, jumping up 15 spots to finish in a tie for 60th with a 236 total (82-76-78). Freshman Keagan Dunn, a Braselton, Ga., native making her first collegiate start, matched Yuen with an identical 236. Dunn turned in a final-round 79 Sunday, to go with her first-round 78 and a second-round 79. She also made five birdies in the tournament.
Mizzou will return to tournament action next weekend at the Westbrook Invitational. The tournament will be played Feb. 24-25 in Westbrook, Ariz.
