Tigers Head to Westbrook, Ariz. for 54 Holes on Feb. 24-25
PEORIA, AZ. – The Mizzou Women's Golf team will head west for its second-straight weekend of spring season play, where they will tee it up in the 2019 Westbrook Spring Invitational, set for Feb. 24-25 at the Westbrook Village Golf Club (Par 72 / 6,432 Yards) in Peoria, Ariz. The 16-team field will play 36 holes on day one, followed by an 18-hole final round on getaway day.
Mizzou is coming off a sixth-place team finish last weekend in its spring opener at the Lake Oconee Invitational in Greensboro, Ga., where they had a pair of top-25 individual finishes by senior Amanda Kim (career-best T-7th) and Cayce Hendrickson (T-25th). Head Coach Stephanie Priesmeyer said her team is eager to make its first-ever appearance at the tournament.
"This is a really nice tournament that Wisconsin has hosted for quite some time, and we're looking forward to competing again," Priesmeyer said. "It's great that we get to go right back out on the road after last week, since we weren't thrilled with the overall results as a team. We had some good individual outings in Georgia, especially with Amanda and Cayce, but Emma (Allen) and Jess (Yuen) were just a little bit off early on which was out of character for them. They've worked very hard this week to get a few things cleaned up and I know they're excited to get back into tournament play," she said.
Priesmeyer's lineup will remain the same for the second-straight outing, with Emma Allen (Sr. – Southampton, England) in the No. 1 spot, followed by Jessica Yuen (Jr. – Bolingbrook, Ill.) at No. 2, and Kim (O'Fallon, Mo.) third. Freshman Keagan Dunn (Braselton, Ga.) will play from the No. 4 spot, with Hendrickson (Benton, Ky.) in the No. 5 position.
Mizzou opened the spring season ranked 55th in the Golf Stat team rankings, while Yuen is the top-ranked Tiger individually. Yuen opened the spring ranked 44th in the nation by Golf Stat, and was also ranked 14th in the Palmer Cup Standings.
Competition at the Westbrook Spring Invitational begins each day with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. (Central Time). Live stats are available online at: https://birdiefire.com/tournament/54167.
