Mizzou improves to 15-9 on the season, its fifth-most wins in program history

DES MOINES, Iowa – No. 47 Mizzou Tennis (15-9, 1-6 SEC) earned another nonconference win on Sunday afternoon, winning 6-1 over Drake on the road. With the win, Mizzou improves to 15-9 on the season and 14-3 in nonconference matches.

Mizzou continues to move up the record book, as its 15 wins rank as the fifth-most in a single season, matching its win totals from the 2002-03 and 2004-05 seasons. Mizzou's only seasons with better win totals in program history are 1978-79 (24), 1980-81 (23), 1979-80 (17) and 2015-16 (16).

DOUBLES

Mizzou won all three matches in doubles action, including a 6-4 win on court one from senior Ellie Wright (Gainesville, Fla.) and senior Serena Nash (Bradford, England) over Liza Petushkova & Maria Tatarnikova.

SINGLES

In singles play, Mizzou won five of six matches, winning in straight sets in all five victories. Mizzou picked up victories from junior Bronte Mrugett (Holmfirth, Great Britain), Nash, freshman Valentina Vazquez Pongruber (Santiago, Chile), senior Marta Oliveira (Lisbon, Portgual) and freshman Rom Cardenas Rifka (Merida, Yucatan, Mexico) in the No. 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 positions, respectively.
