COLUMBIA, Mo. - Despite strong efforts in individual events resulting in 11 wins, University of Missouri men's and women's swimming and diving fell to nationally-ranked Texas A&M in its first home SEC dual of the 2024-25 season Friday at Mizzou Aquatic Center.
The No. 20 Aggie women defeated the Tigers, 168-132, and the No. 14 Texas A&M men closed out Mizzou by the same score of 168-132.
"We were big underdogs coming into the meet and we knew we had a big challenge," Mizzou Head Coach Andrew Grevers said. "In spite of taking their best punch right out of the gate, we came back fighting to put ourselves into a position to win the meet going into the last couple of events. Our athletes' attitudes were amazing, on top of numerous wonderful performances. Overall we're thrilled with our performance, even though we wish we would have come out with a couple of wins. But we're certainly taking steps to close in on the top programs in the country and showing that Mizzou belongs in that group."
Karolina Bank continued to dominate in the pool with her third straight multi-win performance. The Lafayette, Colorado, native has claimed the 100 breast and 200 breast against Arkansas (Oct. 12), Purdue (Oct. 25) and Texas A&M (Nov. 1). Against the Aggies, Bank swam 59.81 in the 100 breast and 2:12.17 in the 200 breast.
Grant Bochenski also continued his streak of wins with his second consecutive multi-win performance. The senior touched the wall in 46.46 in the 100 back to claim gold for the second time, previously winning the event against Purdue (Oct. 25). Bochenski swam a time of 43.68 in the 100 free to claim first in that event as well.
Freshman Philipp Peschke earned the first individual win of his career in the men's 200 free with a personal-best time of 1:36.55.
