
Swimming and Diving Wraps Day One of Competition at Georgia Invitational

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri swimming and diving wrapped up day one of the Georgia Invitational Wednesday inside Gabrielsen Natatorium.
The Mizzou men and women currently sit in the fifth spot in their respective team standings for the three-day event. Through 14 events, the women's team amassed 108 points, sitting just 8.5 points behind LSU for the No. 4 position. The men's squad earned 133 points, also trailing fourth-place LSU (159).
The Tigers sent 21 swimmers and three divers to finals after concluding preliminary competition. Sophomore John Watson advanced to the A final competition in men's 200 IM and placed with a 1:46.09 performance. Freshman Luke Nebrich also advanced to A final in the men's 50 free.
Mizzou found success in the men's 200 free relay, registering an NCAA B cut qualifying standard. The team of Nebrich, Grant Bochenski, Francois Malherbe and Darden Tate placed fourth overall with a 1:16.98 performance.
Newcomer Megan Jolly earned her highest mark of the season with score of 297.45 in women's 3-meter diving for fourth place. Gabriela San Juan Carmona followed her teammate with a score of 289.20. Collier Dyer put up a score of 319.55 in the men's 1-meter diving competition.
Bochenski shone in the men's 400 medley relay with an individual swim of 45.34, surpassing the 2023 NCAA invited time.
UP NEXT
The Tigers will compete in day two of the Georgia Invitational Thursday, with prelims beginning at 8:30 a.m. CT. The preliminary diving competition will begin at 10:30 a.m. followed by swimming and diving finals at 4:30 p.m.
