
Swimming and Diving Concludes Competition at Georgia Invitational

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri swimming and diving closed out the third and final day of competition at the Georgia Invitational Friday at Gabrielsen Natatorium, spotlighted by stellar performances from the Tigers' diving squad.
Both Mizzou squads turned in fifth-place finishes, with the women registering a total of 492.5 points and the MU men totaling 524.
In women's and men's platform diving, the Tigers landed six athletes among the top 10 finishers. Freshman Derek Colbert earned his first career podium finish with a second-place performance of 356.75 in men's platform diving. Tommaso Zannella and Collier Dyer finished fourth and fifth, respectively, with scores of 336.20 and 336.00. Freshman Mia Henninger also posted a career-best performance with a score of 240.65 to take fourth in the women's platform.
In all, the Tigers advanced 24 swimmers to finals on Friday, with five advancing to A-competition finals. Leading the charge, Zara Zallen made her way to the podium with a 48.58 swim in the women's 100 free to place third.
The women's 400 free relay team, consisting of Zallen, Francesca Smith, Katie Kuehn and Sierra Smith, secured a fifth-place finish with a time of 3:15.93. .
Junior Jan Zubik earned his second bronze medal of the invitational in the men's 200 fly. Zubik swam the course in 1:41.65. Alex Ochsenbein also excelled for the second day in a row with a fourth-place finish in the men's 200 breast (1:54.95).

UP NEXT
Mizzou's swimming squad will head to Greensboro, N.C., to compete in the Toyota U.S. Open, December 4-7. The diving squad will compete at USA Diving Winter National in Bloomington, Indiana December 7-15.
