
Track & Field Headed For Tyson Invitational

No. 20 Mizzou men's team and women's team treks to Fayetteville, Arkansas for its first road meet of the season.
COLUMBIA, Mo. – The No. 20 University of Missouri track and field men's team and women's team is set to make its first road trip of the 2025 campaign as it heads to Fayetteville, Arkansas for the Tyson Invitational this weekend. The two-day event will stream on SEC Network+ as action starts at 4 p.m. CT Friday and noon on Saturday.
The Tyson Invitational, hosted by Southeastern Conference mates Arkansas, will play host to 44 programs, including fellow SEC members Alabama, Florida, LSU, Oklahoma and Ole Miss.
NATIONALLY RANKED SQUAD
The men's side is featured as the No. 20 team in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's latest edition of the national poll, headlined by multiple top-25 efforts.
Highlighting the Tigers is triple jump duo Jonathan Seremes (Paris, France) and Sterling Scott (Starkville, Mississippi). Seremes, who recently received votes on The Bowerman Watch List, shattered the program record by jumping 16.94m at the Dr. Rick McGuire Invite, becoming the national leader in the event. Scott's mark of 16.28m set in the season opener is sixth nationally.
Sam Innes' (Columbia, Missouri) program-record weight throw of 22.98m, which he set during the Bob Teel Invitational, is ninth in the national standings.
The men's distance medley relay team featuring Lasse Funck (Dortmund, Germany), Kaden Hamner (Kahoka, Missouri), Jack Forer (Melbourne, Australia) and Brenden Heitzig (Lincoln, Illinois) ran a 9:49.93 during the Dr. Rick McGuire Invitational, which ranks as the 16th-fastest time in the land.
LAST TIME OUT
Mizzou track and field concluded its homestand with the Missouri Invitational last Friday at Hearnes Center Fieldhouse, headlined by Drew Rogers (Herscher, Illinois), who entered the program's top-10 list in the men's mile.
The junior's time of 4:02.30 in the event sits sixth in school history, marking the first time this season a Tiger set a top-10 school record in the event.
In addition to Rogers' record, nine personal bests were set and the Tigers took home event wins in men's and women's weight throw and shot put.
TOP-50 TIGERS
The women's team features six athletes with top-50 national marks, one of the headliners being Kristi Perez-Snyman (Cape Town, South Africa), who's program-record high jump of 1.86m during the Dr. Rick McGuire Invitational is sixth in the nation. Perez-Snyman is joined by Claudina Diaz (Merida, Mexico) and Marlena Tresnjo (Vancouver, British Columbia) in the top-50 list for the high jump, who rank 22nd and 39th, respectively.
Euphenie Andre (Dover Plains, N.Y.) made noise early in the season by setting a 13.49m mark in the triple jump at the Alexis Jarrett Invitational, which is still the fourth-best jump nationally.
Alicia Burnett (St. Louis, Missouri) holds top-50 times in two sprint events. In the 60m, her 7.29s finish at the Show-Me Showdown ranks 27th in the country. In the 200m, her program record standing of 23.35s is the 31st-fastest time nationally this season. Both times set Hearnes Center Fieldhouse facility records.
In the 5000m, Rahel Broemmel (Sonsbeck, Germany) ranks 47th, setting a time of 16:09.31 at the Boston University Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener.
In addition to its top-25 marks, the Tiger men have multiple additional placements in the top 50. The Missouri B distance medley relay team featuring Forer, Heitzig, River Hardman (Russellville, Arkansas) and Izaiah Hill (Neosho, Missouri) turned in a 9:53.28 at the Dr. Rick McGuire Invite, ranking 26th in the country.
Skylar Coffey (Spring Hill, Tennessee) currently owns the 32nd-best shot put in the country after throwing for 18.74m during the Dr. Rick McGuire Invite.
JOINING THE PACK
Ahead of the season, Coach Halter announced the signings of Sofia Walker, Ethan Zuber and Sofia Wydra Morgan Youmans as members of the class of 2025.
On January 15, head coach Brett Halter announced the addition of five distance runners –Mirriam Chepkirui (Nakuru, Kenya), Elijah Limo (Khayega, Kenya), Chesney Peterson (Johnson City, Kansas), Monica Wanjiku (Kaimbu, Kenya) and Kobi Walker (Melbourne, Australia) – to its 2025 roster. All are immediately eligible to compete for the current indoor season.
