Mizzou track and field completed its first of two days at the competition Friday.
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Drew Rogers (Herscher, Illinois) eclipsed the 3000m program record by more than four seconds and led a trio of Tigers who entered the record books Friday, as University of Missouri track and field completed the opening day of the Tyson Invitational from the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Rogers, who entered the program's top 10 list for the mile last week, catapulted himself to the top of MU's standings in the 3000m with a pace of 7:56.00, becoming the first Tiger ever to cross the finish line in less than eight minutes. Declan Tunney (Orland Park, Illinois) followed suit with an 8:02.92 finish, becoming the fifth-fastest man in program lore. Tyler Freiner (Wentzville, Missouri) crossed the line in 8:08.65, now rounding out the all-time top 10 list.
Following Friday's results, six of the 10 fastest 3000m times in program history have been set in 2025.
The men's and women's weight throw teams have seen a plethora of personal bests throughout the season, and that trend continued today. Garik Pozecki (Baltimore, Maryland) became the latest to throw for 20 meters, finishing the day with a personal record 20.19m. Reagan Kimrey (Pleasant Hill, Missouri) threw 18.46m to lead the Tiger women.
A pair of Mizzou standouts finished in podium positions in the 60m dash. Alicia Burnett (St. Louis, Missouri) came within hundreds of a second of her program record mark, crossing the finish line in 7.23 seconds to take silver. On the men's side, fellow St. Louis native Robert Hines dashed to a 6.83-second mark to round out the podium.
