Mizzou women's basketball was defeated by No. 11 Kentucky 74-52 on Sunday afternoon at Historic Memorial Coliseum in Lexington, Kentucky.
Junior guard Grace Slaughter led Mizzou with 15 points, seven rebounds and two assists.
Senior forward Jordana Reisma added 10 points and six rebounds.
Junior guard Lisa Thompson pushed the pace and dished an assist to Abbey Schreacke who opened the scoring for the Tigers with a triple from the left wing. A possession later, Thompson drove the length of the court and navigated the lane to give Mizzou an early three-point lead.
The team traded baskets in the back half of the frame. Slaughter scored three paint baskets to power Mizzou offensively.
Kentucky was able to match the offensive production and led 24-17 after one.
Mizzou trailed by 10 early in the second, but senior guard Saniah Tyler connected on a triple from the left wing to cut into the advantage.
Missouri utilized a balanced attack before the half with a trio of Tigers finding the scoring column. Slaughter added a mid-range basket to bring Mizzou within eight, but a late score by the Wildcats saw the hosts with a 38-28 lead as the teams headed into the break.
Early in the third, Slaughter froze her defender on the left wing and elevated for a 3-pointer. Moments later, sophomore guard Chloe Sotell grabbed an offensive rebound and found Schreacke at the top of the arc for a triple that sliced the deficit to seven.
Sotell finished just one shy of her career high with 12 boards.
Kentucky was able to stretch its lead in the heart of the third before a pair of layups by Slaughter and Reisma in the closing minutes saw the Wildcats lead 54-40 headed to the fourth.
Tyler added another make from long range and redshirt senior guard Jayla Smith contributed six in the final frame, but the Wildcats maintained their advantage in the fourth and earned the victory.
