Mizzou women's basketball junior guard Grace Slaughter has been named to the Cheryl Miller Small Forward of the Year Mid-Season Award Watch List as announced jointly by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association on Wednesday.
Headlining Mizzou's offense this season, Slaughter ranks 23rd in the country and fifth in the SEC with 19.3 points. Slaughter currently tallies 7.2 rebounds per contest, doubling her production from a year ago. In her last 10 contests, the junior is shooting 45.2 percent from beyond the arc.
The Grain Valley, Missouri native has recorded four double-doubles and has contributed 11 outings of 20 or more points.
In a career-high 33-point performance against Northwestern on Nov. 29, Slaughter scored her 1,000th-career point and currently ranks 23rd on the program's all-time scoring list.
The accolade is the latest accomplishment for Slaughter, who was named the 2024-25 SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was honored on the 2023-24 All-SEC Freshman Team.
Slaughter was named to the preseason watch list for the award on Oct. 29.
In mid-March, the Mid-Season Top 10 list will be narrowed to just five, and in late March, the five finalists will be presented to Erving, Miller, and the Hall of Fame's selection committees, where winners will be selected. The Selection Committee for the Cheryl Miller Award is composed of top women's college basketball personnel, including media members, head coaches, sports information directors, and Hall of Famers.
Fans are encouraged to participate in Fan Voting in both of the remaining rounds starting on Friday, February 6, on hoophallawards.com. The Fan Vote will count as one committee vote during the finalist selection process.
The winner of the 2026 Miller Award will be presented on a to-be-determined date, along with the other four members of the Women's Starting Five. Additional awards being presented include the Bob Cousy and Nancy Lieberman Awards (Point Guard), Jerry West and Ann Meyers Drysdale Awards (Shooting Guard), Karl Malone and Katrina McClain Awards (Power Forward), and the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Lisa Leslie Awards (Center).
Previous winners of the Cheryl Miller Award are Madison Booker, Texas (2024-25), Ashley Joens, Iowa State (2021-23), Satou Sabally, Oregon (2020), Bridget Carleton, Iowa State (2019), and Gabby Williams, UConn (2018).
