Roberts in Top 20 After Day One at Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach, S.C. – Freshman Reese Roberts opened day one at the Michael A. Marino Classic with a collegiate-best round to lead the Mizzou men's golf team through 27 holes.
Roberts carded a three-under 69 in the first round – his first collegiate round sub 70. He carded five birdies in the opening 18 holes – against just two bogeys – as he sat in fifth place overall. He followed up with a +2 in the first nine holes of the second round and is now 19th overall at -1.
Veikka Viskari is second on the team and 38th overall at +1, while Trent Mierl (+6), Virgilio Paz (+7) and Brock Snyder (+8) all followed. Additionally, Esteban Cruz Bonilla – who is competing as an individual – carded a hole-in-one on the par-3 12th in the opening round.
As a team, the Tigers are in 13th place overall at +13.
With weather coming through the area, the teams are slated to play nine holes on Monday.
