
Softball Falls Short in SEC Clash Against No. 4/6 Alabama

The Tigers recorded three hits including a home run in the seventh by Abby Carr, as they fell to the ranked Crimson Tide 2-1.
COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou softball (14-17, 0-4 SEC) dropped game one against No. 4/6 Alabama (28-1, 6-1 SEC), 2-1, on Friday, March 20 at Mizzou Softball Stadium.
Junior starting pitcher Marissa McCann went four innings, allowing two earned runs in the loss as freshman Abby Carr scored the lone run of the game for the Tigers with a home run in the seventh inning.
The Tigers started the game with a pair of hits in the first from junior Stefania Abruscato and freshman Sidney Forrester. However, both runners would be stranded, as this would be the lone hits for the Tigers until the final inning.
The Crimson Tide got on the board with a pair of solo home runs in the first and fourth, giving them a 2-0 lead.
In the fifth, senior Courtney Donahue relieved McCann, as the starting pitcher allowed two solo home runs to give Alabama the 2-0 lead. Donahue pitched two innings, giving up two hits while recording three strikeouts.
Freshman Abby Carr made an appearance in the circle to close out the contest after coming in during the sixth inning.
At the bottom of the seventh, Carr nailed her sixth home run of the season to put the Tigers within one in the final inning. The rally fell short, as the Tigers would drop their fourth straight SEC matchup this season with a 2-1 defeat.

- Larissa Anderson is now 386-235-1 all-time.
- Mizzou trails Alabama 23-12 in the all time series, and are now 6-18 in conference games against the Crimson Tide.
- The Tigers are 7-3 at home this season.
- Marissa McCann moves to 5-6 as a starter.
- Missouri moves to 3-6 against ranked opponents this season.
- Freshman Abby Carr recorded her sixth home run of the season in the seventh inning.
