
Gymnastics Selected as No. 2 Seed at NCAA Lexington Regional

The Tigers’ No. 2 seed matches its highest placement for an NCAA Championship regional.
COLUMBIA, Mo. – No. 8 Mizzou gymnastics earned the No. 2 seed for the Lexington Regional of the NCAA Championship and will face No. 9 Arkansas, No. 21 North Carolina State and No. 27 Maryland on Friday, April 3, at noon CT at Historic Memorial Coliseum, it was announced Monday on ESPNU.
"We're excited to return to NCAA Regionals, which is an expectation for our program, and earning a No. 2 seed for the second year in a row is big for us," head coach Shannon Welker said. "I like our grouping, and having competed in that venue this season gives us confidence as we prepare for the postseason."
The nine-team field for the NCAA Championship Lexington Regional is as follows:
- No. 1 Oklahoma
- No. 8 Missouri
- No. 9 Arkansas
- No. 16 Kentucky
- No. 18 Ohio State
- No. 21 North Carolina State
- No. 27 Maryland
- No. 31 Central Michigan
- No. 36 Rutgers
The second quad features No. 1 Oklahoma (No. 1 seed), No. 16 Kentucky (No. 4 seed), No. 18 Ohio State and the winner of the dual meet between No. 31 Central Michigan and No. 36 Rutgers. All NCAA Championship Regional meets will be streamed on ESPN+.
The top two teams from each quad meet advance to the NCAA Lexington Regional Final on Sunday, April 5, at 4 p.m. CT. From there, the top two finishers receive an automatic berth to the NCAA Championship Semifinal in Fort Worth, Texas, on April 16.
In addition, the top all-around competitor and top event specialist from round two at each regional (who is not on a team advancing to nationals) advance to the national site to compete individually. Event specialist qualifiers only compete in the events they qualified for.
The 2026 campaign marks MU's 11th consecutive NCAA Regional appearance. The Tigers earned a No. 2 seed for the second-consecutive season after doing so for the first time in 2025. This also marks the fifth straight year that Mizzou earned a top-16 seed in the NCAA Championship.

No. 8 Mizzou continues postseason action at the NCAA Championship Second Round of the Lexington Regional on Friday, April 3, at noon CT. The Tigers compete as the No. 2 seed against No. 9 Arkansas, No. 21 North Carolina State and No. 27 Maryland at Historic Memorial Coliseum. All regional action will be streamed on ESPN+.
