Softball Blanks Auburn in Game One

Harrison pitched 5.0 scoreless innings, as the Tigers take Game One and improve to 17-18 (2-5 SEC).
AUBURN, Ala. - Mizzou softball (17-18, 2-5 SEC) shut out Auburn (23-11, 2-5 SEC), 3-0, as the Tigers took Game One on Friday, March 27, at Jane B. Moore Field.
Senior RHP Cierra Harrison went 5.0 scoreless innings, as she improved to 8-4 on the season, and has won five-straight games. Sophomore Madison Uptegrove led the charge on the offensive end with two RBIs and her second home run of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Mizzou got on the board first, as freshman Abby Carr produced a leadoff double to open the second frame. A sacrifice bunt moved her over, but it was the clutch hitting of senior Kayley Lenger that scored the first run, as she posted a two-out single to bring in Carr, making it 1-0.
Sophomore Madison Uptegrove brought on the rest of the scoring. The shortstop hit a solo home run to right field in the top half of the fourth. She followed that with an RBI triple in the sixth inning to extend the lead to 3-0.
While the Tigers got on the board, Auburn did not. Mizzou's Harrison once again got the start – after throwing a no-hitter on Tuesday against SIUE – and continued her scoreless streak, as she now has thrown 10-straight scoreless innings. Harrison went 5.0 innings in this one, as she allowed three hits and struck out four en route to her eighth win.
Carr relieved the starter, as she went 2.0 innings and continued the shutout, allowing one hit and striking out two. This is Carr's second save of the season.
GAME NOTES
- Larissa Anderson is now 389-236-1 all-time.
- Mizzou leads the all-time series 14-13 and the Tigers are tied at 5-5 in Auburn, Ala.
- MU has now won seven-straight games when Cierra Harrison starts the game.
- The Tigers are 11-2 in their last 13 games.
