Echols becomes second Mizzou freshman to earn WCGA Regular Season All-America honors.
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou gymnast Addison Lawrence (Olathe, Kan.) was named a Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association Regular Season Balance Beam First Team All-American, while freshman Kimarra Echols (Henderson, Nev.) earned Uneven Bars Second Team All-America honors, the WCGA announced Monday.
The honors increase Missouri's regular season All-America total to 22, including eight first-team selections and 14 second-team nods.
Echols is the second Missouri freshman to earn All-America honors and the first since Helen Hu in 2020, when she earned second-team recognition on bars and first-team honors on beam. Lawrence becomes the third Tiger in program history to earn Balance Beam First Team All-America distinction.
"Addison and Kimarra have been consistent all season and this recognition reflects the level they've competed at week in and week out," head coach Shannon Welker said. "Addison has been rock solid on beam, and Kimarra has made an immediate impact on bars as a freshman. We're proud of both of them and what they've contributed to our success."
Echols made an immediate impact on uneven bars in her freshman campaign, posting a season-high 9.950 twice, including at Alabama on Jan. 23 and again at Kentucky on Feb. 13. She recorded scores of 9.900 or better in five meets during the regular season and opened her collegiate career with a 9.900 against Iowa State. Echols delivered four additional scores of 9.925 and capped the regular season with a 9.900 at the SEC Championship, earning All-SEC honors.
Lawrence anchored Missouri's beam lineup in each meet she competed in this season, highlighted by five scores of 9.950 during the regular season, including the season opener against Iowa State and consecutive meets against Alabama, LSU and Florida. She posted a 9.925 at the SEC Championship and added two 9.875 performances on the road at Oklahoma and Georgia. Lawrence opened her final year of collegiate competition with five scores of 9.950 on beam in the team's first six meets, one of just three gymnasts nationally with five or more marks of 9.950 or higher through week six.
First Team All-America was awarded to the top eight finishers, plus ties, of the NCAA regular season for all four events and the all-around. Second Team All-America was awarded to the ninth through 16th-place finishers, plus ties, of the NCAA regular season for all four events and the all-around.
