
Newman Wins Women’s 1500m at Big Red Classic

The senior achieved a personal best on the final day of the competition.
LINCOLN, Neb. – Missouri track and field's Allison Newman claimed the women's 1500 meters event title during the final day of the Big Red Classic on Saturday afternoon at Bob Devaney Sports Center.
RECAP
Newman topped the 1500m field of 18 runners with a personal record of 4:30.45. Elissa Barnard followed in sixth, crossing the finish line at 4:45.26. Natalie Barnard rounded out the third top-ten finish for the Tigers in the event, taking home eighth with a 4:50.09.
The men ended the contest with strong performances in the same event. Elijah Limo and Joshua Allison went two-three in their 1500m debut, clocking times of 3:54.43 and 3:55.87, respectively.
Senior Ames Burton took home a fifth place finish in the women's discus throw, recording a 49.06m (160-11).
