
Men’s Golf First After Day One of Tiger Intercollegiate

Columbia, Mo. – The Mizzou men's golf team sits in first place through nearly two rounds of play at its home tournament, finishing Monday with a team score of -10 through 33 holes.
Junior Veikka Viskari finished strong to enter the final day in solo first place. The junior birdied his final four holes to move to -7 overall, one shot ahead of a pair of golfers in second place at -6. Viskari birdied his final two holes of the first round to card a two-under 68. After playing his first 11 of the second round at one-under par, he birdied the third, fourth, fifth and sixth for his -7 tally with three holes to play in the second round.
Freshman Esteban Cruz Bonilla also completed his best day of his young collegiate career to sit in fourth place at -5. The rookie carded a career-best 66 (-4) in the opening round – highlighted by an eagle two on the 14th hole – as he placed second after 18 holes. He then added one birdie against zero bogeys through 15 holes of the second round.
Brock Snyder is in 13th at -1, followed by Virgilio Paz and Trent Mierl in 26th at +1.
Overall, Mizzou is in first place of 19 schools with all teams through at least 33 holes. The Tigers own a team score of -10, three strokes ahead of second-place Nebraska at -7.
Final day of competition is set for Tuesday morning with the schools completing the final three holes of the second round before playing the final 18 holes. Schools are set to tee off at 8 a.m.
