Esteban Cruz Bonilla Named SEC Freshman of the Week

After collecting his first collegiate top five at the Tiger Intercollegiate, Esteban Cruz Bonilla of the Mizzou men's golf team was named SEC Freshman of the Week on Wednesday.

Cruz Bonilla finished third of 100 competitors with a three-under 207 (66-71-70) at the Tiger Intercollegiate, marking his first collegiate top-five finish. He started the tournament with a four-under 66 – the first sub-70 round during his time at Mizzou – before he added two more solid rounds for the best 54-hole score of his college career.

Overall, Cruz Bonilla recorded one eagle, eight birdies and just seven bogeys over the three rounds.

It marks the second time this year a Missouri golfer won SEC Freshman of the Week honors with Reese Roberts being the first back in March.

Cruz Bonilla and the Tigers return to action Wednesday, April 22 in the SEC Championship at Sea Island Golf Club in Georgia.
