
Blaize Ward Named SEC Co-Freshman of the Week for Second Time

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou baseball freshman Blaize Ward was named Southeastern Conference Co-Freshman of the Week for the second time this season, the conference office announced Monday morning.
The freshman from Maumelle, Arkansas, hit .462 for the week (6-for-13) to help the Tigers to a series win over Vanderbilt. He drove in four runs for the series, including a key insurance run in the eighth inning of Sunday's series-clinching win. He also led the Tigers offensively in game one of the series, knocking three hits in the extra-inning marathon that began Friday night and concluded Saturday afternoon.
On the season, Ward leads the Tigers with an impressive .353 batting average (30-for-85) in SEC play with a team-best 17 RBI, a pair of home runs and has scored 10 runs. His 30 hits in league play are second on the team to only Kam Durnin.
Overall, the freshman holds a .321 average (43-for-134) with five doubles, a triple, three home runs, 31 RBI and 23 runs scored, getting on base at a .426 clip.
