DENTON, TEXAS, -- Needing a high score to bolster their chances to qualify as a team for the NCAA Region 3 Championships, the Missouri Tigers gymnastics team didn't help themselves Saturday night in losing a three-team meet at Texas Woman's University.
The host Pioneers won the meet with a score of 192.025, and were followed by the Ball State Cardinals (190.425) and the Tigers (190.1). It was Missouri's second lowest score of the season.
In the process, Missouri slipped to eighth place in the Region 3 standings. Six teams will qualify for the regionals, April 10, at Nebraska. Arizona and Southeast Missouri State have moved ahead of Mizzou.
Individually, Jessica Haag won her seventh vaulting championship of the season and fifth in a row with a score of 9.75. Shannon Brown and Chandra Harlow went two-three on uneven bars with respective scores of 9.725 and 9.7.
