The University of Missouri men's and women's swimming and diving teams took to the pool again after a month hiatus from competition. MU did not appear to lose a step either as both teams defeated SMS. The women won with a score of 168-113, improving their record to 6-2 while the men handed SMS a 160-121 loss taking their record to 4-1.
MU claimed ten of the 13 individual events on the men's side including four 1-2 finishes and a 1-2-3 sweep in the 200 IM, their first sweep of the season. The Tigers two freshman sensations, Matt Ferrarelli and Radu Miclaus again led the way along with Aaron Lo. Ferrarelli and Lo both claimed three events while Miclaus won two including the 200 fly in a personal best time. Lo started the meet off with a win in the 100 breast, but the turning point of the meet came when Lo swam to a win in the 50 free. Freshman Dane Pedersen won the 1,000 free marking his first collegiate win.
"No one person stood out as the star," head coach Brian Hoffer said. "Aaron Lo's 50 free was the turning point for us. We were flat for the first half of the meet, but after that swim there was no looking back. All the guys came through for us."
