Tigers Finish Third at Big 12 Relays

The Missouri men's swimming and diving team finished in third place at the Big 12 Relay Meet at the Devaney Sports Center Pool in Lincoln, Nebraska. The men's team finished 10 points behind Texas A&M (91-81) to finish third, Texas placed first with 116 points.
The diving team led the way for the men's team. The freshmen duo of Aaron Wionzek and Zac Metcalf finished first with a score of 276.95 in the 3-Meter dive. Senior Jamie Sweeney and freshman Evan Watters finished with a score of 284.90, however their dives were exhibition. In the pool, the team of Matt North, Tyler Belanger, Radu Miclaus and Matt Ferrarelli finished second in the 400 medley relay. Ferrarelli added another second place showing in the 300 backstroke relay, teaming up with Chris Lukas and Dustin McKnight. The men added three third place finishes in the 200 free, 1500 free and the 100 medley relay.
"Our diving team came up big, I knew they would be the strength of this team. But for the three freshman to come in and contribute this quick, I'm looking forward to the rest of the season," said Hoffer.
The Tigers will return to action tomorrow at the Devaney Sports Center Pool. The men will have a dual meet against 2002 NCAA Champions Texas A&M. The start time for the meets is 9:00 a.m.
