Ames, Iowa-The University of Missouri women's gymnastics team continues to post some of the highest scores in Mizzou history. Although the No. 15 ranked Tigers fell to the No. 8 ranked Iowa State Cyclones 195.875-194.100, MU recorded its second highest dual meet score against ISU in program history (MU recorded a 194.525 against Iowa State in 2000). The score is also Mizzou's 10th highest meet score on the record books.
In addition, Missouri scored a 49.050 on the balance beam to tie the Missouri all-time record on the apparatus. All of Mizzou's athletes scored a 9.750 or higher on the event to help the Tigers top the Cyclones that scored a 48.575.
Freshman Alisha Robinson put another sensational meet under her belt scoring a 39.400 all-around score-her second highest of the year. The first-year scored a 9.825 on vault, a 9.875 on the uneven bars, a 9.825 on beam and a 9.875 on the floor.
Also putting in solid scores for the Tigers, junior Laura Anson made her inaugural appearance in 2002 scoring a 9.725 on the vault. On the floor exercise, sophomore Andrea Nervig scored a 9.750 and junior Laura Forbes scored a 9.775 to boost the Tigers.
Sophomore Lindsay Davis scored a 9.725 on the vault, throwing a new skill for just the second time during the 2002 season. Freshman Rachael Dombart helped Mizzou scoring a 9.675 to open the uneven bars, she went on to score a 9.750 on the balance beam.
Rounding out MU's top scorers, junior Leah Gremaud topped Missouri scoring a 9.900 on the balance beam to record her second 9.900 or higher score this season and win her fourth meet title. Gremaud also scored a 9.775 on the uneven bars and a 9.600 on the floor.
Missouri's 194.100 came in light of the loss of all-arounder Alina Hamm. The junior injured her hand during practice and was sidelined during the meet. Her condition will be made on a meet by meet basis.
Up next for Mizzou, the Tigers host Ball State on Sun., Feb. 17 at 8:00 p.m., in the Hearnes Center.
