
#24 Mizzou Finishes Fourth at Big 12 Championship

Norman, Okla.-- The #24 Mizzou Tigers finished fourth at the 2005 Big 12 Championship scoring a 194.875. Winning the title, #4 Nebraska scored a 196.650, followed by #9 Iowa State (196.000) in second and #10 Oklahoma (195.500) in third.
Opening the meet on floor for the third consecutive year, the Tigers saw solid routines across the board. Duplicating her career high for the third time this season, sophomore Whitney Crater led Mizzou scoring a 9.875 to tie for fifth overall on the event. Junior Lauren Schwartzman followed suit scoring a 9.825 while Alisha Robinson added a 9.800 performance. Rounding out the event, Julie Abaray, Ashley Khederian and Kelley Andersen each added 9.750 showings to boost the Tigers to a 49.000 and a second-place standing following the first rotation.
Scoring a 48.925 on vault, the Tigers kept on track taking their two rotation tally to 97.95. Seeing strong marks throughout the series, Sarah Zigler jumpstarted the Tigers scoring a 9.725 followed by a 9.700 by Jodie Heinicka, a 9.775 by Schwartzman and a 9.800 by Khederian. Capping Mizzou's performance on a high note, Robinson led the team scoring a 9.925 picking up her second consecutive Big 12 vault title.
Carrying their momentum into the third round, the Tigers went six-for-six on bars to score a 48.600 team total. Khederian and Heinicka each delivered 9.675 routines, while Andersen, Robinson and Zigler bolstered Mizzou with 9.750 performances.
Finishing solidly on beam, the Tigers scored a 48.350 team total including a sixth-place 9.800 routine by Schwartzman. Adding to the Mizzou tally, Abaray scored a 9.750, Andersen scored a 9.700 and Robinson scored a 9.625.
Performing as Mizzou's lone all-around competitor, Robinson scored a 39.100 to tie for seventh overall.
The Tigers return to action on Sat., April 9 when Mizzou advances to NCAA Regionals. Seeds for postseason competition will be announced on Mon., March 28.
