Oklahoma Defeats Missouri 196.425-195.225

Norman, Okla. - Mizzou Gymnastics traveled to Norman, Okla. Friday (Feb. 18), to take on the Oklahoma Sooners. Despite taking the loss, Mizzou put up one of its highest scores this season. The Tigers dropped 196.425-195.225 to the Sooners. As a team, the Tigers set a new season-high score (49.075) on beam. Mary Burke recorded her second-highest all-around score of the season (39.275) to take the all-around title. Senior Alex Gold earned second in the all-around with a 37.575.
The Tigers started the meet on bars, recording a team total of 48.050. Freshman Katelyn Trevino started off the meet, she put up a 9.650 followed by Senior Alex Gold who recorded an 8.975. Sandra Ostad was third in the rotation, scoring a 9.625 and Taylor Medrea earned a 9.675. Mary Burke stepped it up for Mizzou, posting a 9.775 and Allie Heizelman scored a 9.325. Burke took third on the event.
Again showing their ability to overcome adversity, Mizzou got down to business in the second rotation. The Tigers put up 48.925 points on vault, one of their highest scores this season. Tori Howard got the team started off on the right foot with her 9.775 and Ostad came next to score a 9.800. Lauren Swankoski scored a 9.850 for the second time this season, and Mary Burke received a 9.725. Swankoski's score earned her the third place title on vault. Gold recorded a 9.775 and freshman Cathryn Aliceaacosta earned a 9.600 on her first-career vault. After the second rotation the Tigers trailed the Sooners 96.975-98.025.
The Tigers continued to come out strong on floor in the third rotation. Gold earned a 9.700 on her routine and Aliceaacosta earned a 9.750 on floor for the Tigers. The competition marks Aliceaacosta's first-career floor competition as a Tiger. Howard earned a 9.825 and Swankoski earned a 9.850. Burke and Heizelman both put up scores of 9.875, which contributed to the team score of 49.125 on floor. The score marks the team's second-highest score of the season.
Finishing the meet on the beam, Missouri remained a tough competitor. Howard scored 9.700 on her beam routine, and Swankoski recorded a 9.800 to match the career-high score she set against Nebraska. Aliceaacosta also scored a 9.800 to set a new career-high score. Gold recorded a 9.125 followed by Heizelman who also set a career-record. She scored 9.875 on her beam routine. Mary Burke was the last competitor for the Tigers, posting a career-high 9.900 to take second on the event. The scores added up to a season-high 49.075 on beam for the Tigers. Mizzou finished with a 195.225 on the meet.
