
Mizzou Divers Open Georgia Diving Invitational With Three Top-Six Finishes

Senior Clark Thomas leads the way with a third-place showing on men's 3-meter
ATHENS, Ga. – The Mizzou men's and women's diving teams opened competition at the Georgia Diving Invitational with three top-six finishes during day one action on Sunday (Jan. 3) at Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens, Ga.
Senior Clark Thomas (Olathe, Kansas) led the way for the Tigers with a third-place finish in the men's 3-meter competition. Thomas scored a season high 384.95 in finals to take third after a prelims total of 323.10.
Freshman Kyle Goodwin (Aurora, Colorado) also advanced to men's 3-meter finals, where he scored 361.94 points, a total that moved him into eighth all-time at Mizzou in the event. The freshman improved on his prelims score as well after he scored 317.65 points to start the day to advance to finals.
In the women's 1-meter competition, sophomore Alexa Beckwith (Denver, Colorado) earned a fourth-place finish with a finals tally of 295.80 points. Additionally, sophomore Kendra Kieser (Plano, Texas) advanced to finals as well, she placed ninth with 263.20 points.
The three-day Georgia Diving Invitational continues on Monday, Jan. 4 with the men's 1-meter and women's 3-meter.
