
No. 16 @MizzouGym Scores 196.625 For Highest Team Total Since 2010

The Tigers team score of 196.625 also tied the eighth-highest score in program history
COLUMBIA, Mo. – The No. 16 Mizzou gymnastics team scored its highest team score in six seasons and tied the eight-highest tally in program history as the team posted a 196.625 to defeat Lindenwood (194.000) and Southeast Missouri (192.600) in the State of Missouri Meet Friday at the Hearnes Center. The Tigers' floor total of 49.475 also marked the fifth-highest score in program history.
Mizzou's 196.625 was the squad's season high by almost 0.6 of a point and marked the program's highest team total since the Tigers went 196.875 against Illinois State on Feb. 26, 2010.
Freshman Morgan Porter (Overland, Mo.) won one event title and tied for another, while sophomores Kennedi Harris (Atlanta, Ga.) and Becca Schugel (Eagan, Minn.) and freshman Britney Ward (Ozark, Mo.) also won event crowns. Porter took the win on floor with a 9.950 and tied Harris for the vault title after a 9.800. Schugel and Ward won the bars and beam titles, respectively, with scores of 9.900.
With the win already in hand, Missouri closed the meet with a lights-out floor rotation of 49.475. Only four times in the program's 36-year history did the team post a higher total on the on the event, with three of those scores recorded in the 2004 season.
Porter claimed her first-career floor title with a personal high 9.950 to lead the Tigers, ahead of Harris' 9.925. Freshman Michaelee Turner (Parkville, Mo.) also tallied a career best with a 9.900, while, freshmen Allison Bower (Mesa, Ariz.) and junior Angie Kern (Columbia, Mo.) both tallied 9.850s. Bower's score was a personal best and Kern's marked a season high on the event.
The Tigers opened the night with a 48.850 on vault, paced by 9.8s from Harris and Porter as the pair tied for the event win. Additionally, freshmen Madeleine Huber (St. Louis, Mo.) and Xarria Lewis (Columbia, Mo.) scored 9.775s for the squad.
In the second rotation on bars, Missouri got five scores of 9.825 or better to post a season best event total of 49.250. Taking the bars title Schugel with a career high 9.900 for her first event win of the season. Huber and Porter both tallied 9.875s, the former of which was a personal best for Huber, while Bower also notched a career high with a 9.825.
Ward won her fourth beam total of the year with a 9.900 as the Tigers went 49.050 as a team on the apparatus. Bower had her third career best score of the night with a 9.825, while freshman Brooke Kelly also went 9.825.
Mizzou travels to the Lexington, Ky., next week to face No. 25 Kentucky on Friday, Feb. 12 at 6 p.m. CT.
