COLUMBIA, Mo. – Junior Annie Ochitwa (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) won three events in three season-best times as the Mizzou men's and women's swimming teams concluded their regular season schedules with the two-day Tiger Invite, Jan. 26-27, at the Mizzou Aquatic Center. The meet was the last tune-up before the 2018 Southeastern Conference Championships in mid-February.
KEY TIGERS
Ochitwa led a contingent of six Tigers who won multiple events during the two-day meet. Ochitwa was a triple winner with three season-best times as she recorded victories in the 50 free (22.23), 100 fly (52.20) and 100 back (52.59).
Senior Sharli Brady (Burlington, Ky.) also won a pair of events, with wins in the 500 free and 200 free. Her 500 free time of 4:41.86 was a personal best my more than four and a half seconds and made her the second-fastest Mizzou swimmer ever in the event, a jump of four spots on the all-time list.
A men's breaststroke sweep was completed by junior Jordan O'Brien (Naperville, Ill.), who clocked times of 53.96 in the 100 breast and 1:57.90 in the 200 breast nab the wins.
A pair of sophomores both earned two wins apiece as well. Nick Alexander (St. Louis, Mo.) proved victorious in both the men's 200 (1:46.70) and 200 back (1:43.80), while Micah Slaton (Austin, Texas) took first in the 100 fly (47.18) and 100 free (44.65).
Also a double-winner was junior Kylie Dahlgren (Victoria, Minn.), who earned top honors in both the 200 IM (1:59.41) and 400 IM (4:14.91).
Additionally, freshman Lauren Savoy (Highland Village, Texas) placed first in the women's 200 breast in a personal best time of 2:10.66, a time that jumped her from fifth to third on Mizzou's all-time list.
