The Tigers compete Friday-Sunday at the MountainView Golf Club
TUCSON, Ariz. – Mizzou Women's Golf returns to Tucson, Arizona, where the Tigers played just two weeks ago, to host the MountainView Collegiate this weekend (March 23 – March 25) on the 20th anniversary of the tournament. The tournament will be the Tigers' third event of the spring season, with just one more tournament left to go following the MountainView before postseason play begins. Mizzou tees off at 10 a.m. CT on Friday.
Mizzou cohosts the annual tournament at the MountainView Golf Club with Kansas State, and the two teams have once again put together a very competitive field, which includes San Jose State, Colorado State, Middle Tennessee State and Central Arkansas, among others.
"We love coming to MountainView year after year," head coach Stephanie Priesmeyer said. "It has been a great event for us to host and we have had some good success here in the late spring heading into the home stretch of our season. We are coming off some really nice qualifying rounds at home and we believe our players are in a good position physically and mentally to finish strong."
Mizzou's competitive lineup for the tournament will feature sophomore Jess Yuen (Bolingbrook, Ill.) junior Emma Allen (Southampton, England), senior Clara Young (North Berwick, Scotland), junior Cayce Hendrickson (Benton, Ky.) and junior Amanda Kim (O'Fallon, Mo.), which is the same lineup Priesmeyer went with during the team's last time out.
Redshirt junior Mackenzie Perez (Ranchos Palos Verdes, Calif.) and sophomore Cherise Otter (Bloomington, Ind.) will also be participating in the event, but will be playing as unattached individuals.
Though the Tigers are coming off an 11th place finish at the Wildcat Invitational, there was good to be gleaned from their last outing against a field loaded talent. Both Allen and Yuen finished in the top-30 overall, shooting identical 223s. Meanwhile, Kim finished just three strokes off of their team-leading pace, grabbing a slice of 45th overall with a consistent 54-hole performance (74-75-77--226). And although Hendrickson finished tied for 56th overall at the event, her first round 73 was her second lowest 18-hole score so far this season.
