- Mizzou fell twice last week to move to 6-4-1 on the season, and 0-2-1 in SEC play.
- The Tigers lost 3-2 against Florida on Thursday night in Gainesville, Fla. Mizzou trailed 2-0 at the half, but scored twice in the second half on a shot from Macy Trujillo and a penalty kick from Sarah Luebbert. Mizzou mounted a comeback bid, getting two shots off and a pair of corners in the final 10 minutes of play.
- Mizzou lost a 5-1 match to Georgia at home on Sunday, with the lone goal coming from Luebbert – on an assist from Zoe Cross – in the 20'.
Looking at the Opponent...South Carolina
- South Carolina owns a 9-1 record on the season, and is undefeated in SEC play.
- The Gamecocks also have two victories over ranked opponents, and are coming off a 1-0 win over then No. 13 Arkansas on Sunday.
- South Carolina averages 2.50 goals per game, and hold a goal differential of +20 on the season (25-5).
- Elexa Bahr and Lauren Chang both lead the program with four goals on the season, while Bahr has added five assists for 13 points.
Ranked Opponent Coming to Town
- South Carolina enters Friday's contest ranked seventh in the country according to the United Soccer Coaches.
- The Gamecocks are the first ranked opponent Mizzou will play this season, and are the highest-ranked team to come to Walton Stadium since 2017, when then No. 3 South Carolina won a 2-0 match against Mizzou (Oct. 19).
- In the SEC era (2012-present), Mizzou is 10-21-2 against ranked opponents, and has lost their last seven ranked matches.
- The last ranked win came against No. 9 Kentucky on Sept. 25, 2015, with the Tigers leaving Lexington, Ky. with a 3-1 victory.
Luebbert Moves Up the Record Book
- Mizzou's leading goal scorer, senior Sarah Luebbert, is off to one of the best starts to a season in her career.
- The Jefferson City, Mo.-native has 16 points on the season (six goals, four assists) and her name has been ascending the program record book in the past several weeks,
- Points
- T8. Melissa Peabody (01-04)/Michelle Collins (06-09) . . . . . 76
- 10. Sarah Luebbert (2016-Pr.) . . . . . . 73
- Goals
- 7. Melissa Peabody (01-04) . . . . . 29
- T8. Michelle Collins (06-09)/Sarah Luebbert (16-Pr.) . . . . . . 27
A Math Equation is a Math Equation
- Mizzou is looking to establish footing in the SEC race after falling to an 0-2-1 record through the first two weeks of league play.
- With 1 point, the Tigers are only a spot back in the league standings when it comes to getting into the SEC Tournament. Mizzou is currently tied for 11th with LSU.
- A win in SEC play, and the three points it grants, would move the Tigers into a tie for seventh – barring Alabama and Vanderbilt being held to a draw or a loss.
Defending Walton Stadium
- Mizzou has had plenty of chances to take advantage of the friendly confines of Audrey J. Walton Stadium in 2019.
- The Tigers will play 12 of their 18 games at Walton Stadium, including six-straight home games from Aug. 29-Sept. 15.
- Since joining the SEC, beginning with the 2012 season, Mizzou has gone a combined 49-20-7 at home – a combined winning percentage of .691 over the last seven seasons.
